National Education Day was celebrated at Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science, Warangal (KITSW), Andhra Pradesh, on 11.11.2013 commemorating the 125th birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, first Union Minister of Education of Independent India, eminent educationist and a great freedom fighter.


The program was organized by the Student Council of the Institute.  Around 200 students participated in the event.  Elocution competitions were conducted and Rallies with placards and slogans etc. were organized on the importance of Education and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad's contribution to the elevation of education and its values.

Dr. K.Ashoka Reddy, Principal, in his Presidential remarks, urged the student community to pursue higher education and research.   He also stressed on the need of enhancing the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in higher education in India.  At present we have GER close to 19 percent, which is much below the 26 percent average GER in the global scenario.
