Profile

The Department of Information Technology was established in the year 1999, with an annual intake of 60, which was enhanced to 120 from the academic year 2020-21. Post Graduate Program (M.Tech) in Data Science was started in the Academic year 2020-21.


Sixteen batches have successfully completed the degree and are placed all over the globe. The laboratories in the department are fully equipped with latest software's. It has acquired excellence in the areas of Data Mining and Networks and has well trained and committed faculty.


The Department established its uniqueness in developing laboratories like Multimedia, Information, Internet, Database and Data Mining, Network Simulation and Data Science laboratories.


The overall success of the Department can be traced to a vast majority of its students who are well placed in reputed organizations like TCS, GE, Microsoft, HCL, CTS, Infosys, Wipro etc., and quite a good number of successfully functioning entrepreneurial ventures started by them.


The department has updated its curricula regularly in tune with the standards of internationally reputed institutions and industries. The department also has its own Library with an access to online journals and also facilities to seek knowledge from lectures like NPTEL.


The faculty members have attended a number of continuing education programmes and contributed papers to various National & International conferences & Journals. Some of faculty members are working for their doctoral degrees. At present the department has 1 Professor, 5 Associate Professors and 15 Assistant Professors. The department has successfully organized National Level Technical Symposiums like SAMSHODHINI and SAMSKRITHI etc. for students and conducting various workshops for faculty and students.


The department was sanctioned Rs. 1 Lakh by DST SERB for conduction of seminar titled, "Emerging Trends in Wireless Networks" for the faculty members during the academic year 2018-19.
