The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established in the year 2000 with an initial intake of 45 students, which has progressively increased to 180, reflecting its growing academic strength. The department achieved its first accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi, in 2008 under Tier II for a period of three years. Since then, it has maintained its quality standards through timely reaccreditations, with the current accreditation status valid until June 2027. In the academic year 2020-21, the department introduced an M.Tech program in Communication Engineering and Signal Processing (CESP) with an initial intake of 30, which was later revised to 12 from the academic year 2021-22 to enhance the focus on quality education and research. The department is supported by a team of 32 highly qualified and dedicated faculty members, including 03 Professors, 07 Associate Professors, and 22 Assistant Professors. Currently, 17 faculty members hold Ph.D. degrees, while 15 are actively pursuing their doctoral research, strengthening the department's academic and research credentials.
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at KITSW is committed to excellence in education, research, and industry collaboration. The department has received sponsored research funding from prestigious agencies such as DST, SERB, and MSME, fostering innovation in cutting-edge domains. It actively engages in consultancy projects with industry leaders like Elegant Embedded Solutions and Multitech Systems. To enhance faculty expertise and student learning, the department has conducted Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) and Short-Term Training Programs (STTPs) sponsored by DST and E&ICT (NIT Warangal). Strengthening academia-industry interaction, the department has also established MoUs with leading industries, ensuring practical exposure and skill development for students.
