The Department of Electronics Communication and Instrumentation Engineering(ECIE), formerly known as Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering(EIE)was established in the year 1981 in Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science (KITS), Warangal. The department formerly offeredB.TechEIE and M.Tech VLSI & Embedded Systems. The institute to its credit is first in the country to offer a B.Tech programme in Electronics & Instrumentation stream. The B.TechEIE programme has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) of AICTE, New Delhi for the first time in 2003 and remained accredited ever since.
To keep pace with the ever changing industrial needs, the curricula of both UG and PG programmes offered by the department are being periodically reviewed and revised. Based on the inputs from the stakeholders, B.TechEIE and M.Tech. VLSI & ES programmes are withdrawn and new UG and PG programmes are introduced by the department to enable the students to pursue their professional goals on par with Electronicsand Communication Engineering (ECE) students.
The department introduced the programmes, B.Tech in Electronics Communication and Instrumentation Engineering and M.Tech in Embedded System& VLSI in the years 2019-20 and 2021-22 respectively.
The department has a recognized Research Centreunder Kakatiya University (KU) Warangal, and offers state of the art research facilities to the Ph.D.scholars registered in the specified areas of Electronics, Communication, Instrumentation, VLSI and Signal Processing.
The department has a team of experienced and committed faculty who strives hard for the growth and development of the departmentby providing outcome based education to the students. The teaching learning process adapted focuses on research and hands on learning approaches in tune with the latest technology trends.
The department has well equipped laboratories to cater the curriculum of UG and PG programmes. The labs are equipped with NI LabVIEW, BIOPAC, ARM, Mentor Graphics, MATLAB, Xilinx ISE,Industrial IoT, PLC, DCS etc. The department has a Centre of Excellence (CoE) -NI LabVIEW Academywhich offers certified training program inLabVIEWto the students of all branches of the institute.
