The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering was started in the year 1994, with an annual intake of 60, which was enhanced to 120 from the academic year 2012-13. Post Graduate Program (M.Tech) in Power Electronics was started in the Academic year 2012-13 with an intake of 18. The department faculties are having higher qualifications from the IITs, NITs, BITS Pilani, JNTUH,KU etc. Twenty one batches have successfully completed the degree and are placed all over globe. The laboratories in the department are fully established. It has acquired excellence in the areas of Power Systems and Power Electronics and has well trained and committed faculty.

The Department established its uniqueness in developing laboratories like Power Systems, Electrical Simulation, Power Electronic Simulation, Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Control Systems, Electrical Machines, Networks and Simulation, Electrical Measurements, Renewable Energy Systems and Basic Electrical Engineering laboratories.

Most of the final year project works are structured to include both modelling and simulation aspects as well as practical cases meeting the requirements of the industries.

The overall success of the Department can be traced to a vast majority of its students who are well settled in reputed organizations like NTPC, BHEL, APGENCO,TSGENCO, APTRANSCO,TSTRANSCO, TCS, GE, Microsoft, HCL, CTS, Infosys, Wipro etc., and quite a good number of successfully functioning entrepreneurial ventures started by them.

The department has updated its curricula regularly in tune with the standards of internationally reputed institutions. The department also has its own Library with an access to online journals and also facilities to seek knowledge from lectures like NPTEL.
