The Department of Electronics & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineering was established in the year 1981 in Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science (KITS), Warangal. Department offers B.Tech Programme in E&I Engg and Specialized M.Tech programme in VLSI & Embedded Systems under Kakatiya University, Warangal. The institute to its credit is first in the country to offer a B.Tech. program in Electronics & Instrumentation stream. The B.Tech program has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) of AICTE, New Delhi.
The department is recognized as a Research center for Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering stream under Kakatiya University and offers state of the art research facilities to the Ph.D. scholars registered in the specified areas of Electronics, Communication, Instrumentation and Signal Processing.
The Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering has a fine blend of renowned, experienced ,young, dynamic and committed personalities as faculty, involved in providing quality education at both Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) levels. It has broad based UG & PG curricula. The syllabi of the courses are continuously updated and the laboratories are modernized to reflect the rapid changes in technology. The department has well equipped laboratories to cater the curriculum of UG and PG programmes. It is pertinent to mention here that AICTE, New Delhi has sanctioned an amount of Rs. 8.0 lakhs towards the Modernization of Measurements & Instrumentation Laboratory of the Department under Modernization and Removal of Obsolescence Scheme (MODROBS) in the year 2010.
The faculty of the department are inclined towards quality research and have a good number of academic publications in internationally reputed conferences and referred journals like IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation & Measurement etc. The faculty also visited several countries like China, Malaysia, Austria and Hungary for presenting their research work in the International IEEE Conferences. The Department to its credit has a Research Promotion Scheme (RPS) sanctioned an amount of Rs. 9.9 Lakhs by AICTE, New Delhi, in the year 2013, with Dr.K.Ashoka Reddy as a Principal investigator and Sri M.Raghu Ram as co-investigator, The Department to its credit has a AICTE Quality Improvement Schemes (AQIS) MODROBS sanctioned an amount of Rs. 15 Lakhs by AICTE, New Delhi, in the year 2019, with Dr.K.Sivani as a Principal investigator and The Department to its credit has a AICTE Quality Improvement Schemes (AQIS) One week STTP sanctioned an amount of Rs.3 Lakhs by AICTE, New Delhi, in the year 2019, with Dr.K.Sivani as a Principal investigator towards promoting quality research in the department.
The Department has strong Industry interaction and has been involved in development of state-of-art technology requirements and to make the students industry ready products. Laboratory facilities have scope for extensive simulation, calibration and testing facilities for carrying out industry sponsored research and consultancy projects. Further, the students are regularly sent to various reputed organizations for industrial training as a part of curriculum, to develop technical skills and to gain an insight into working environment of the industry with real time problems.
For the benefit of the students, the department organizes workshops, short term training programs on current trends and developments in the areas of Robotics, Signal Processing, Electronics and Instrumentation. To develop leadership and Managerial skills E&I Association activities are conducted every week as a part of class work.
Most of the students of the department have been placed on campus and off campus every year in reputed software, core and public sector companies like TCS, Infosys, Tech-Mahindra Accenture, Google Reliance Power, L&T, BOSCH, NTPC,KTPS,BILT, etc. In addition the students of E&I are scoring high in national & International level competitive exams like GATE, CAT, GRE,TOEFL, etc and are placed in premier institutions of India and abroad for their higher studies.
